Great interview with former Ratbag Games CEO Greg Siegele, and the sequel to their post-apocalyptic racer that was never released:
Powerslide: Slipstream
February 23rd, 2012Auto Assault
February 17th, 2011The greatest car battling game I never got to play:
I bought the game, but was afraid of becoming addicted – so I put it off since I had a lot of work to do. Then I heard they were going to be shutting down the servers, so I rushed to install the game and sign on – only to be told that during the last month of operation no new accounts could be made
RIP Auto Assault.

New Twisted Metal game footage
June 24th, 2010I generally don’t like the Twisted Metal series, but this does look good!
Death Track: Resurrection for PS3 review
June 22nd, 2010PS3 version of the Windows game that came out last year. It performed so poorly on my somewhat outdated PC, that I couldn’t really play it at all, though I suspect I didn’t miss much.
Some car battling blog posts
March 31st, 2010Seems David Jaffe, the creator of the Twisted Metal series, posted a semi-complaint about Microsoft’s new Scrap Metal car combat game having such a similar name. This caused a misguided post that at least mentions a number of good related games:

Also, Obsolete Gamer provides a good article about Spy Hunter:

Blur Preview and Trailer
March 9th, 2010This game is looking great, but even more importantly, the writer used the term “car battler” to describe the game!

Streets of Sim City Review
February 20th, 2010Good review of Maxis’ rather strange car battling “Sim” game:

It was obviously very much inspired by Interstate ’76, but not nearly as good, and not at all focused.
I learned about two new car battling games today while watching this review, “Auto Destruct” (PS1) and “Impact Racing” (Sega Saturn), and have already bought them on eBay!
New article about Interstate ’76
February 19th, 2010Nice to see new stuff being written about the game. A bit of history, and brief interview with the game’s creator, Zack Norman:
